At East Coast Martial Arts, our mission is to provide the highest quality martial arts training in a safe and supportive environment. ABOUT GOSHIN RYU KARATE
Our Origin
Frank Van Lenten, a US Marine spent 15 years in Japan during and after WW 2. He trained constantly and achieved high ranking black belts in several Karate styles before returning to the US.
He had many students who became black belts who taught and promoted black belts of their own. There are many Karate schools and thousands of students in the United States thanks to Hanshi Van Lenten.
Our Classes
"Goshin Ryu" is translated as "Self Defense Way." Goshin Ryu Karate consists of traditional Goju Ryu and Shorin Ryu Karate and relies on the 3 K's Kata, Kihon, and Kumite for self defense and development of Mind, Body and Spirit.
Our Instructors
Our instructors are experienced martial artists with a passion for teaching. They provide individualized attention and guidance to each student, helping them to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. With their encouragement and support, our students gain confidence and self-discipline both on and off the mat.
